A French touch for the holidays: Comté bites with figs & sweet potato!
The perfect bites for all your holiday gatherings!

Caitlin shares with us the perfect holiday recipe to impress all your guests: sweet potato bites with fig and Comté, paired with Côtes du Rhône wines!

You’ll need: 3 medium sweet potatoes (cut into ½-inch rounds), olive oil, salt and pepper, 8 oz sliced Comté, ¾ cup toasted chopped pecans, a handful of finely chopped baby arugula, 3 tbsp honey, ½ tsp lemon zest, and 6–8 sliced fresh figs.

How to make it:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Drizzle two sheet pans with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and spread the sweet potato slices on top. Brush with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Roast for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the topping: mix the pecans, arugula, salt, pepper, honey, and lemon zest in a bowl until it sticks together.
  4. Place a slice of Comté on each roasted sweet potato and return to the oven for 4–5 minutes, until melted.
  5. Add a slice of fig on each round, then finish with a spoonful of the pecan–arugula topping.

Both Comté and Côtes du Rhône are French PDOs (Protected Designations of Origin), meaning their quality is protected thanks to their origin, sustainable practices, and craftsmanship. That’s what makes them so special!

And if you’re wondering how to pair them, here’s a tip: what grows together, goes together. These two come from neighboring regions shaped by the Rhône River. One bite of these sweet-and-savory treats pairs beautifully with a sip of red, white, or rosé Côtes du Rhône!
